FFI Southeastern Council Hosts Casting Education Event

On May 10th more than 30 fly fishers gathered in Nashville, Tennessee for a comprehensive casting eduacation event led by eight FFI Certified Casting Instructors. In partnership with Middle Tennessee Fly Fishers, the Southeastern Council of FFI coordinnated FFI Certified Casting Instructors from across the southeast to lead six casting topics, ranging from an introductory demonstatration, to distance casting, presentation casting, and a two-handed casting station focused on trout-spey opportunities on Southeastern streams. Hosted at a local fly shop, Fly South, this event was an excellent opportunity for FFI mmembers to access a full range of educational information provided by FFI. 

"Its always fun to get together with other FFI CI's to share the fundamentals of fly casting," said Steve Nix, who coordinated the group of instructors. "It's great to see this many folks come out to ask great questions and really having fun improving their casting skills. Its great to see FFI providing the network and communityto bring together anglers of all skills levels for this type of event."

After a morning going over the range of casting instruction, the Instructors led an evaluation of casting students interested in the FFI Fly Casting Skills Development challange. THis was the first time these students recieved an evaluation, and eight Brone certifications were awarded, moving these casters to the next step in preparing for their Silver Level evaluations.
