Join us for Charting New Waters, an engaging panel discussion featuring accomplished women in the fly fishing industry: Captain Stacy Lynn of Texas, Kimberly of New Mexico, and Melanie of Florida. Drawing from years of experience on the water, these professional guides will share personal stories, hard-earned insights, and perspectives on navigating the world of fly fishing guiding. From building careers in the outdoors to lessons learned, this conversation offers inspiration, expertise, and a fresh look at women shaping the future of the sport.

FITNESS AND FISHING - Preventing the Injuries
Joe will provide an overview of how to prepare and strengthen your body for fishing activities, with a focus on the rotator cuff, scapular positioning, and core stability. Participants will review the anatomy of the shoulder and learn exercises designed to strengthen and stabilize the shoulders, scapula, core, and upper back.

Joe will also demonstrate “portable” exercises that are easy to take along on trips, along with discussing the importance of incorporating simple daily exercises using resistance bands into your routine.

You’ll see what makes a quality bamboo rod worth the investment and maybe, just need one yourself.

Their stories offer insight, encouragement, and practical ideas to help guide your own casting journey.

Building your Own Fly Rod
In addition to fly tying, you too can build your own rod from readily available components.  Our speaker will walk us through the process and provide additional information on how to source your materials.  You will be able to ask questions throughout the program.

Understanding and Selecting Your Fly Rod - Shawn Combs & Rachel Leinweber
This program will discuss what makes a good fly rod and how to identify those characteristics when you are purchasing a rod. The program will include discussion of the components of a rod from the perspective of an outstanding rod designer.  As an angler you will deal with a shop owner when you purchase a rod so the panel will also include a shop owner who will educate you on how to approach your own fly shop.
