I would like to introduce myself:
 

My name is Bernd Geier and I was born in 1956 in Griesheim near Darmstadt (Germany). I am married and my wife, Gabi, is very kind and patient. We have a faithful and loving Labrador retriever named Sandy which loves the water just as I do and, as a result, always accompanies me when I go fly fishing. We live in Langen, about 22 km from Frankfurt am Main. In my professional life, I am head of the Heating-AC-Ventilation-Sanitation group at the Technical University of Darmstadt. Technical University of Darmstadt.Flyfishing began for me when I was 23 and watched a fly fisher while I was standing on a bridge in the beautiful city of Steyer, Austria where the Enns and the Steyer flow together. I found indescribable how he was standing in the water elegantly catching one grayling after another.

Since, I have fished exclusively with a fly rod for more than 28 years for all fresh- and saltwater fish I can get to. My favorite fish are grayling, asp, and pike. Since 2001, have had a flyfishing school in Langen with the major goal of teaching the necessary techniques.
In addition, I try to motivate active learning after the course and to kindle pleasure in this wonderful sport. It is also very important for me to communicate a responsibility for our environment and how careful with it we need to be and that each of us should try to contribute to making things a little bit better.

On 15 September 2002, I completed my certification as Flycasting Instructor by FFF Europe - Federation of Fly Fishers Europe.

On 29 November 2008 in Belgium, I am very proud to state that I passed the test to be a Federation Of Fly Fishers Certified Master Fly Casting Instructor.

Second only to fly fishing is my passion for fly tying. I have developed my own patterns and tying methods through visiting shows, contact with other fly tyers, my own entomologic studies, and photography on the water.  These patterns have rewarded me with many wonderful hours on the water and many great fish.

My third passion is writing reports about throwing the fly rod, fly tying and on opinions about fly fishing. Some of my reports have been published in professional journals as well Fisch & Fliege und Fliegenfischen.
