Bob  Anderson

My fly fishing journey began in what is now Oil Creek State Park at Columbia Farm where I resided with my grandparents.

I started fly fishing around the age of 16 and attended college at Clarion University and graduated with a major in Biology, Secondary Education. I used my time at college to intensely study the macro invertebrates found in our local streams to help me better understand their importance to fly fishers. With this information, I could then precisely imitate the various insects that hatched from our local waterways.

I have over 60 years of fly fishing experience and assist our local FFI Chapter - Keystone Fly Fishers with our fly tying classes. I was one of the founding members of the Oil Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited and in 2002 assisted in the formation of Keystone Fly Fishers, a Charter Chapter of Fly Fishers International located in Venango County. I am a member of the Fly Tying Group of FFI and have completed the Saltwater, Bronze, and Silver levels of the Fly Tying Awards Program.

With the assistance and guidance of Gary Kell, (Master Certified Casting Instructor); in September of 2017 I passed my Certification test at Roscoe, NY and became a Certified Fly Casting Instructor.  I have assisted with teaching the Fly Fishing 101 classes offered locally at Oil Creek State Park and completed the PFBC fishing skills instructor class in 2017.  Currently I am the Casting Director for the Eastern Waters Council of FFI which includes New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey and the president of our local chapter Keystone Fly Fishers.

I fly fish in both fresh and saltwater; having traveled twice to Belize to fish for tarpon, bonefish, jacks, and permit and traveled to Cape Cod to fish for striped bass and blues.

I reside in the Oil City/Franklin area and offer fly casting instruction to interested individuals and groups that would like to take their fly casting to the next level so you can enjoy to the fullest this tremendous hobby of fly fishing.
