Thomas Berggren, born 1965, a Swedish fly casting instructor (MCI & THCI), has been fly fishing since he was a kid and involved in fly fishing industry within the Loop organization since 1987. In the initial stage of his career with Loop Thomas worked as a rod builder along with Göran Andersson. Together they made the entire series of Loop custom rods in the early years and ultimately evolved to a leading role in Loop’s product development of both rods and lines before leaving the company in 2012.Today Thomas is a part owner in the Company: Karpen Flyfishing International. Thomas came across the certification programs quite recently and did the CI and FFF exam in February 2008 and passed his MCI in March 2009.

Parallel to the work at Karpen Flyfishing International and FFF, Thomas is the owner and operator of the Lilla Malma Fishery, a very popular and one of the most sought-after fisheries and fly fishing schools in Sweden. The fishery is located Just outside Malmkoping, approx 100 km south from Stockholm and there is where he also lives together with his family, in a house 50 meter from “raising Trouts”  

Earlier in his professional life, Thomas ran his own company and also worked in the banking and finance world before deciding to take the step into a full-time career in fly fishing.

I would say I'm mainly a Two Handed fly fisher seeking for atlantic salmon, but on the other hand it's not really true. As a matter of fact I spend more time using my single handed rods because I'm living on a trout fishery property and have the possibillty to fish on daily basis. But let me put it like this! If I just had one week to fish, I would spend it in a salmon/seatrout river with my two handed rods. Most of my experience in two handed fishing is of course in Sweden and Norway, but I fish frequently several trips per year in Scotland. Have experience from Ireland, Iceland, Canada, Alaska, Argentina as well.
