I first picked up a fly rod in 1976, catching bass and bluegill on a popping bug. I’ve been fascinated ever since. Since then, the fly rod has taken me to ten states in the US and five provinces of three other countries. I have been blessed to have caught over 25 species on the fly. My love of both fly fishing and coaching has led me to opening my guiding business (The Fly Cruiser Guide Service) specializing in Smallmouth and Musky on the Nolichuckey and Holston Rivers. As well as, trout on the South Holston and Watauga Rivers. My goal with any guide trip or casting lesson is for the client to come away with a broader knowledge of what makes the cast work and how that “feels” kinesthetically. My approach is for the student to be equipped to self diagnose a future casting issue, based on their time with me.
