Description: This is a five-week workshop running every Tuesday from 10/5/2021 through 11/2/2021, 8:00 to 9:30 PM ET. This workshop is designed for a person who is beginning their fly fishing journey or a person who has been away from fly fishing for a considerable amount of time. This workshop will be very comprehensive and will include topics such as fly fishing equipment, selecting a fly rod and reel, fly line-leader-tippet, casting, knots, rigging, selecting a fly, prepare for a fly fishing trip, set the hook, play the fish, handle the fish, revive the fish, release the fish, fish behavior, fish habitat, reading water, stream anatomy, entomology safety, etiquette, and more. This same workshop is normally presented as a 10-week class at a local college; but will be presented in 5 weeks for the Virtual Expo.

Class Fee: $125 for 5-week course

Description: Join Aquatic Biologist Peter Stitcher for a journey through the life cycles of aquatic trout foods on the water and in your fly box. In this talk, the participant will learn the defining characteristics of Midges, Mayflies, Caddis Flies, and Stoneflies on the water and the different types of fly patterns that we tie to match each as they progress through their lives. We will also discuss how to identify each of the major trout foods as they fly over the water just by observing their distinctive flight patterns.  After this talk, the participant will be able to quickly and easily identify the naturals on the water and match the hatch!

Description: In this knot tying course, the participant will learn to tie knots that are useful and practical for getting out on the water and catching fish. We will learn knots from the fly line to leader, the leader to tippet, and tippet to fly. This is a hands-on course and the participant is encouraged to have a hook, small diameter cord, and monofilament line for tying the knots that will be presented.
