Free Online Training for FCSD Facilitators Now Available
Six 90-minute Zoom sessions scheduled through August and open to all FFI members and council or club volunteers.
Fly Fishers International is offering free online Fly Casting Skills Development (FCSD) Facilitator Training sessions in 2026, giving FFI members and council and club volunteers the tools they need to launch or strengthen FCSD events in their communities.
The FCSD program provides a fun, self-paced pathway for anglers to build their casting skills across four progressive levels: Foundation, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Every skill in the curriculum ties directly to on-water performance, helping participants cast more efficiently, handle wind, and improve both presentation and distance.
Each 90-minute training session is designed for volunteers new to FCSD as well as those already running events who want fresh strategies and a chance to ask questions. Sessions will cover event timelines, field setup, equipment, volunteer coordination, assessment language, and available support materials from the FFI website.
Upcoming Sessions
Sessions are offered at two time slots each day (9 AM and 4 PM Pacific) to accommodate a range of schedules and FFI's international membership:
- Saturday, April 11 — 9 AM Pacific / 4 PM Pacific
- Saturday, July 18 — 9 AM Pacific / 4 PM Pacific
- Saturday, August 22 — 9 AM Pacific / 4 PM Pacific
Council and club presidents are encouraged to share this opportunity with volunteers who could help expand FCSD activities in their organizations.
